On November 20–21, 2025, the 2nd International Conference on the Etruscan Material Culture of the Apennines will take place, titled
RESOURCES, WORKSHOPS, AND METALLURGICAL PRODUCTION IN THE CENTRAL-NORTHERN APENNINES DURING THE FIRST MILLENNIUM BCE.
The conference aims to take stock of the forms of metal production and consumption in the northern Apennines between the Orientalizing and Hellenistic periods, while also considering earlier developments from the Final Bronze Age. This event marks the concluding stage of the PRIN 2022 project “Apenninescape. Marginal Landscapes and Productive Processes along the Reno and Bisenzio-Sieve Valleys during the First Millennium BCE”, which involves the Universities of Bologna, Florence, Pisa, and the CNR-ICCOM.
The conference is also part of a broader initiative launched by the Universities of Bologna and Florence in 2019 with the 1st Conference on Pottery, aimed at investigating the Apennine region as a unified and coherent area of connection between the Arno and Po valleys.
The event will be held on November 20, 2025, at the Municipal Hall of Dicomano, and on November 21, 2025, at the Sala dei 90, Rocchetta Mattei.
Registration is required.
